Saachi Jain

Hi, I’m Saachi, a first year Geophysics student, and I would love to be the next Industrial Liaison for IC WSET! After attending and benefiting from the networking and skill-building opportunities at various WSET events, I am eager to contribute to the society’s effort in bringing the female community equal opportunity to explore STEM fields and careers.

I aim to expand our industrial outreach by:

• Hosting career talks from different fields including academia, industry, and corporate careers
• Creating more targeted networking opportunities for females across different degree schemes (e.g. natural and earth sciences, medicine, engineering) in order to address a larger variety of career goals in our community. This could also be in collaboration with other societies like FemTech, ICWIB or other subject societies.
• Creating a society profile on the platform Gradcracker to engage with new companies, gain sponsorship, and organise more recruitment events
• Organising more outreach events with younger students such as a mentor/mentee program to grow the society’s membership and provide support to those looking to pursue STEM fields

Having started an online career talk series where I organised and led panel discussions with diverse industry professionals, I believe I am equipped with the necessary skills to take on this role. I am able to communicate effectively with various audiences including students and professionals and have the necessary time management skills to maintain contact and relationships with companies.
