Sofia Shafique

Hii my lovelies,

If you don’t know me, I’m Sofia your current treasurer and former secretary. This year I’m going for the big chair role. Being part of the committee for the past two years has been incredible. For many of us Pole and Aerial have a significant role in our lives, be it an escape from Imperials academic demand, a way of improving our fitness or even just a space to meet new people. I'm passionate about making sure our society continues to be a welcoming space where everyone can grow, connect, and have a great time.

I’m very fortunate to have had the responsibility of creating our annual budget for the next academic year and have included a wide range of workshops and events next year including acrobatics, contemporary pole flow, chair choreography and flow arts workshops as well as a cirque du soleil social and hopefully a pole tour. I’m currently in the process of organising reasonable time slots in the Union gym or potentially externally hiring space so all these activities can go ahead. I also plan to ensure we get branded kit next year and new equipment (shiny new stage poles too!!) so we can proudly represent the society.

With my prior experience (and insight from all the gorgeous committee members I’ve worked with), I have a well-rounded view of the functioning of the society so I can ensure that everything is well organised and surpasses your expectations.
