I'm interested in developing a user database for undergraduate and graduate students in the society, which collates information on e.g., professions, clubs, and interests. We can use this database to accelerate intradepartment networking, strengthen relations with alumni, link mentors and mentees with similar interests (e.g., data science, investments), better understand the student's interests (e.g., sustainability), enhance the Mums & Dads scheme (e.g., similarity of interests in sports, music, arts), and have a dialogue with the department on improving the student life at Imperial. This database could interface with the ChemEngSoc website (https://test.chemengsoc.com/#/committee). We will need to construct and enforce proper guidance regarding data privacy and collection. We can do machine learning, with the goal of improving student experiences and professional development.
