Zi Liang Gan

I am Gan Zi Liang, a second-year Earth Science student and I would like to run for the treasurer of Geophysics Club for the academic year 2024/25.

Being an individual who is sensitive with numbers, pay attention to details and being accurate in record-keeping, I was elected as the treasurer of the class back in high school by my class teacher. I recorded all the transactions with all the proof of payment such as receipt, invoice or cheque in a class notebook that would later be checked by my class teacher. As the treasurer, I was also aware of how much money was left in the class account each month. This was useful in terms of planning class events such as appreciation gifts for all our subject teachers, class party, and class trips within the budget.

If I am elected as the treasurer of Geophysics Club, I will focus on strategic planning to ensure long-term sustainability of the society. It is also to ensure that the events of geophysics society such as outreach events, seminars, and fieldtrips are hold to cultivate a sense of belonging among members, at the same time being financially responsible. Apart from that, I strive to collaborate with other committee members to achieve the goals of geophysics club, which are to enhance our standing among geophysical companies and to offer valuable guidance regarding future career prospects.
