Melita Crasta
Heyaa! My name's Melita, and I'm excited to be running for the position of Treasurer in the Women in SET Society. I am deeply passionate about creating opportunities for women to thrive and excel in. My involvement in organising strikes in Liverpool for Youth Strikes 4 Climate(YS4C), has honed my leadership, communication, and organisational skills. My professional experience at KPMG has provided me with an understanding of corporate values and financial management practices.
Moreover, my experience as a YS4C organiser has enabled me to lead impactful climate strikes that mobilised hundreds of individuals, garnered significant media attention, and raised awareness about the pressing need to address climate change. These experiences have honed my skills in organisation and leadership.
If elected as Treasurer, I'm committed to ensuring transparency and efficient financial management within the Society. My goal is to work collaboratively with the society's team to allocate funds responsibly, maximise resources, and support the growth and success of our society's initiatives and events.
I aim to:
-Explore funding sources such as grants or partnerships with local businesses to support innovative projects within the society.
-I will assist in the development and management of the society's budget, prioritising funding for events and workshops.
-Collaborate with other student societies or community organisations to organise joint events.
-Allocate a portion of the society's budget towards funding student-led projects.
-Implement an open-book policy where everyone has access to financial reports.
