Hello, my name is Seo Won and I’m running for the role of Secretary at FoMSF.

MSF is a volunteer medical organisation - one of very few of its kind to exist and still work according to its founding principles. It relies heavily on funding (as NGOs do) as well as awareness. I believe any exposure or money we can raise through FoMSF to support their actions will help make a positive impact, even if it may be small or short-lasting. For that reason, I want to ensure FoMSF is a highly active society at Imperial and it would be a great privilege to be a part of that work.

Within the ICSMSU, I have worked with faculty in SSLGs to drive for improvements to the course and its implementation. Whether it’d be communicating in a timely manner, coordinating schedules to bring people together or committing enough time to carry things out well, I realise that change requires proactively taking initiative to make things happen and I will help the committee work cohesively as a team.

A few things I would work towards:

- Open up opportunities to allow involvement of students with MSF work (i.e. volunteering trips)

- Collaboration Fundraisers: to generate more exposure and funding (not just with academic societies but music/sports too for charity concerts etc)

- Career Talks: Recruit MSF workers (medical and non-medical) to give talks about their roles/experiences and how to get involved in humanitarian work.
