Varshini Chandrasekaran

Hello People of ChemEngSoc! I’m Varshini Chandrasekaran, a first-year student running for Industrial Relations and Sponsorship Officer. In 2023-2024, I was part of the subcommittee that brought you the SME career fair! My experience made me realize; I want to do more to help our students.

As your IR officer, I want all our students to know what options are available for them in their professional lives and how to achieve them. A vote for me is a vote for the following:

1. Career fairs, networking events and panels that cater for every student – Careers fairs aren’t just about finding jobs after graduation. I hope to host career fairs that highlight summer internships, graduate roles, and spring insight weeks with equal importance.
2. CV, Interview Skills, and Soft Skills workshops – Knowing how to create a CV, write a cover letter and answer complicated interview questions is crucial for students. I want to host regular workshops that teach our students how to develop these soft skills to make any application process less stressful.
3. An officer who’s willing to listen – ChemEngSoc is great, but we can always do better. I’m willing to be an open ear to listen to any complaints, concerns, and requests from our students. Do you want a specific company to present with us? A specific kind of skill workshop? I promise to hear you out and do my best to represent your wishes with our events.
