Vaishaanth Nagaraj

Hi everyone, I’m Vaishaanth, running for Secretary.

I am very keen on pursuing a career in surgery, considering the potential to make a significant difference to patients’ lives in a quick time, while being a very hands-on and stimulating career option. Taking part in the SurgSoc mentorship last year with a general surgeon only reaffirmed my choice to become a surgeon in the future.

I have held numerous leadership positions, most recently being Events Lead of MedTech, where I successfully organised the inaugural ‘Introduction to Python and Machine Learning’ workshop. Additionally, I am the Networking Officer of Doctorpreneurs, where I connected with leaders in the MedTech space and invited a few down for our workshops and conference. Furthermore, my time serving national service in the Singapore Armed Forces allowed me to interact with and understand people from different cultural, socio-economic, and educational backgrounds, working harmoniously with them. I’ve also liaised with other army units in the proper handover of logistics, for the smooth running of training. These experiences have honed my leadership skills significantly.

As Secretary, I hope to achieve these:

1. Be very diligent in organising the administrative tasks for the smooth running of the society’s events
2. Be proactive and help out in other parts of event planning beyond the role of secretary as well
