Matthew Lee

Hi everyone! I’m Matthew and I’m running to be your next Events Officer. For me, SingSoc has always lived up to its high call of home away from home. Having seen communities grow and deep friendships cultivated through our delicately planned events and initiatives, I endeavour to continue this effort through upholding the following:

• Thoughtfulness & heart

What struck me was the thoughtfulness of Singsoc's initiatives, from building orientation groups with MBTIs to matching mums & dads with hobbiesand values. I hope to similarly plan events with heart, placing each individual’s need at the centre and making sure there is something for everyone.

• Innovation & Openness

Through events, I aim to create an environment where new friendships are forged and existing friendships are strengthened. My goal is to organise engaging, collaborative and inclusive events that strengthen our community bonds and connect us with the wider community. I will actively seek feedback to ensure our events evolve to meet the changing needs of our members.

• Adaptability

Having been an orientation camp chairman and carnival planner, I believe I have a wealth of experience to offer in managing events, communicating and meticulous planning. Importantly, they have equipped me with cost-efficient planning skills and flexibility to handle critical challenges on the ground.

I truly believe in making SingSoc a comfortable home away from home. I believe my ambitions and my extensive event planning experience places me in good stead for this meaningful role, and I hope I have your vote of confidence :)
