Nehir Gerek

Hello everyone,

I am Nehir, a first-year aero student and I want to be your Aerosoc secretary next year! I chose Aero to go mainly into the space industry since I didn’t know much about other careers I might enjoy. However, Aerosoc introduced me to loads of other sectors I could enjoy. The career talks gave me the motivation to push forward with the degree and to keep up with the workload, not to mention the free pizza :) I hope to inspire more students through these kinds of events, and I would love to get involved in the improvement and functionality of the society. I was the honorary board president for four years in high school, where we arranged award ceremonies and programs, so I have extensive experience organising student events.

If I become the secretary, I would like to organise more interactive career talks with company site visits, workshops about how to reach out to companies, and CV and cover letter writing events for specifically aero students(with more free food, of course!). Along with academics, I would like to arrange more fun activities where people can engage with each other, such as monthly union gatherings. I also would like to help first-year students interact more with upper-year students.
