We all know that ICUMS has played a big role in helping Malaysians transition from a comfortable home to the foreign weather of London. I experienced the highs and lows of MNight -- from feeling stressed having not learned the choreography of Trad Indian, forgetting my lines during acting rehearsals, and wondering if we could ever give out a great performance -- to finally performing successfully on stage to a large audience for the first time in my life. Amidst all this hard work we put ourselves into, then comes the fun stories and great friendships that we will cherish forever. All this to say, I will strive to preserve and grow ICUMS by being part of the committee.
Money is integral in keeping our society afloat. Without proper budgeting, money will be inefficiently allocated to events that may not be of value to our members. As Treasurer, I will manage and organise our finances meticulously to serve the best interests of our members.
As the budget for the next year is expected to be £30000, here's a quick summary of my plans for the year 2024/25:
- Events - £12000 - 40%
- Welfare - £7000 - 23.33%
- Sports - £6000 - 20%
- Careers - £1500 - 5%
- General - £3500 - 11.67%
