Hello, I’m Wendy, your current year's-Gender Equality Officer.
I have been striving towards my commitment to fostering an inclusive environment and empowering our communities to fight against disparity. From the start of the year, I've been an active promoter of gender equality, encouraging women to participate in different activities and amplifying their voices.
With my community, I’ve set up and sent questionnaires focused on gender equality and feminism, and reached out to different underrepresented groups, raising awareness on pertinent issues.
I’ve also established a Gender Equality Book Corner at library—a testament to our unwavering dedication to knowledge and progress.
On International Women’s Day 2023 & 2024, I proudly organized fundraising to charities supporting girls’ groups, uniting many students’ devotion and fostering positive changes.
I‘ll firmly devote deeper and wider on EDI with the following objectives that will propel us towards better equality and less disparity.
- Hold career fairs for women and transgenders in STEMB, allowing better access to jobs and internships.
- Campaign to ensure feminine hygiene products are available at every female and gender natural toilet in every campus, redistributed every day.
- Collaborate with all faculties to better empower women going into research careers, taking PGR degrees and permanent research staff roles.
- Collaborate with all faculties (especially engineering) to encourage more applications from female students.
- Last but not least, keep on out International Women’s Day fundraising to help girls in wider society.
Vote Wendy for Gender Equality Officer. I will work hard to fight for a more equal environment.
Thank you!
