Chahlaa Lichir
Hi, I’m Chahlaa, a second-year Materials Science and Engineering student, and I’m running for Events Officer of French Society.
Having helped revive the society and organise our first socials this term, I want to build on that momentum with events that give people a reason to keep coming back. Whether you are French, francophone, learning the language or simply interested in the culture, you should feel welcome.
If elected, I will focus on three priorities:
A varied calendar: Alongside pub nights and collaborations with other cultural societies, I want to organise French film screenings, a Chandeleur crêpe evening, raclette nights and relaxed language exchanges. A balance of bigger socials and smaller gatherings would give members different ways to get involved.
Accessible, well-organised events: I will work with the committee to keep activities affordable, include regular alcohol-free options and communicate dates, prices and venues early so students can plan around their workload.
Events shaped by you: Through polls and opportunities to suggest ideas, I want members to help decide what we organise. I will also gather feedback after events so we can improve throughout the year.
I would bring enthusiasm and a collaborative approach to French Society, helping create a community where familiar faces become friends.
Vote Chahlaa for a welcoming, active French Society!
