Welcome everyone! This is Madhulika Mandavilli, your Vice-Chair for Nature and Wildlife society this year who is running for Botany coordinator!
Last year, as your Gatsby Plant Science Champion I helped organise three botanical walks and when I ran for my current role, I hoped to introduce people to the multi-dimensional world of plants that colours the world in so much more than green.
We have expanded from a Botanical society to a Nature one, so please give me a little more responsibility to coordinate your botanical events for the year!
What I mean to bring on this year:
- Botanical walks: Opportunities try our hand at scientific recording; sometimes joining groups of experts such as the London Natural History Society and the Botanical Society of Britain and Ireland.
- Botanical workshops (Indoors and Outdoors): Places to upgrade our ID skills and knowledge of plant science
- Volunteering (not limited to plants): Conserving and supporting our urban ecosystems; adding to our scientific understanding.
- Botanical activities: Leisure spaces to just chat about plants and more.
- A compilation of botanical resources.
