Transplant and Vascular Society: Events Officer
Hi everyone! I'm Anjali and I’m running to be your next Events Officer! :)
This society already has an incredible foundation, from speaker events and workshops with leading professors to the iconic International Transplant & Vascular Conference with SurgSoc. My aim is simple: protect our core events, enhance our workshops, and introduce fresh ideas.
Protecting what we love:
- Backing big events: Working closely with SurgSoc to make our next international conference bigger, smoother and more impactful than ever.
- Elevating popular workshops: Ensuring our hands-on sessions have better sign-up transparency and seamless logistics.
Fresh ideas I want to bring:
- Cross-speciality ethical debates: A debate night with other societies like Cardiology on hot topics like xenotransplantation and organ allocation ethics.
- Tech and innovation showcase: Sessions with experts exploring emerging technology in the field, including things like 3D-printed vascular grafts and machine perfusion.
- Live surgical video breakdown: Sit down with a vascular or transplant surgeon to walk through a rare (anonymised) recorded procedure, with the surgeon pausing to explain the why behind specific cuts.
Why vote for me?
- Led Freshers’ Big Chill: Successfully organised one of the largest events of the medics’ Freshers’ Fortnight calendar, handling massive attendance, venue logistics and collaborating closely with SU.
- Charity event leadership: Spearheaded charity fundraisers that raised hundreds, managing budget management, marketing and execution on the day.
- Background in transplant medicine: National finalist in the Oxford Ethics Competition debating organ donation, won an essay award on regenerative medicine vs transplantation.
Would really appreciate your vote! :)
