Maya Telang

Hello everyone! My name is Maya, I’m a Year 2 Chemical Engineering student and I’m applying to be your new Ideation Officer! Imperial’s engineers are some of the world’s greatest pioneers and I believe that we all have the technical skills and passion to be creative and help transition to a more sustainable future.

As your ideation officer, I’m excited to be able to run an event/s to cultivate a whole community of innovative engineers that will be able to solve some of the biggest real-world challenges. Past projects like the interactive “Race to net-zero” session and Ideathon have successfully helped engineers train to design technical solutions to real-world issues and I would love to help make these projects even bigger and better this year as well as create new opportunities!

I would like to host workshops and competitions to give students the chance to hone their creativity skills and contribute to global challenges and encourage students of all abilities, from beginner to advanced, to take part. I hope that these events will create a space where students can explore new ideas, learn from each other and develop sustainable solutions.

With my previous experience in organizing a career fair at school and running two clubs, I believe my organizational skills, ability to manage timelines, coordinate with industry professionals and effectively build teams will certainly help us deliver a high-impact event.
