Women in SET: Event Organiser

Hi everyone! I'm Rachel. As Events Organiser, I would love to build on the society’s existing strengths and create more opportunities for members to explore, connect and grow.

Broader career exposure: Organise more insight days and company visits across science, engineering and technology, giving members the opportunity to explore career paths beyond what they may already be familiar with.
Practical skills development: Continue and expand consulting workshops with student-led consulting groups, helping members develop practical problem-solving, teamwork and presentation skills. Where possible, I would also like to create exclusive opportunities, such as fast-tracked interviews for outstanding participants.
Research & career inspiration: Organise panels featuring women across academia, industry and research, giving members a chance to hear different career journeys and gain a broader perspective on the opportunities available to them.

I also have previous experience in event planning and leadership, which has helped me develop my organisation, communication and teamwork skills. Ultimately, I want to help make the society a place where members can discover new opportunities, build practical skills and feel supported throughout their university journey.
