Biochemistry (UG): Year One Wellbeing Representative

Hi I'm Sophie and I am running to be your wellbeing representee. As first-year biochemistry students, we are going to be balancing lab reports, lectures, and a new life at university, which can easily become stressful and overwhelming. I am running because I want to create a supportive community where no one feels left behind and where our mental and physical health is put first! I'm from Ireland, not to fit the stereotype, but I'm always down for a good chat, whether it's about a problem with a lab or lecture, or just a friendly face in the lecture hall. I want to create an accessible peer support space. Where we can have casual stress-free convos and chats about difficult course content, but also prioritize non-academic events, so that we have plenty of chances to unwind and de-stress from all the work. I might not have moved very far myself, but I know how overwhelming it is to navigate a new life as an international student. I want to work to represent your feelings and ideas, whether that be communicating about unfair deadlines or actively promoting wellbeing resources. Let's make this year scientifically successful and mentally sustainable!
