Bioengineering (UG): Year One Wellbeing Representative

Hi! I'm Yacine Driss, a first-year Biomedical Engineering student at Imperial.

Starting university is exciting, but between lectures, labs, deadlines and exams, finding the right balance isn't always easy. I want to help make sure that, alongside working hard, we can enjoy our time at Imperial, support each other and make the most of our first year.

Having previously served as a class representative in high school, I've learned how important it is to listen to others, understand their concerns and make sure their voices are heard. I'd love to bring this experience to Imperial and help make our experience as first-year students even better.

As your Wellbeing Representative, I will focus on three priorities:

  • Building connections: Making it easier for everyone to connect, share advice and help each other out.
  • Making your voice heard: Listening to your ideas and concerns and bringing them to the department. No concern is too small to raise.
  • Making wellbeing a priority: Helping make conversations about stress, workload and wellbeing feel normal, while making sure everyone knows where to find support when they need it.

Most importantly, I want to be someone you can approach, talk to and trust to take your concerns seriously.

And because staying connected shouldn't stop when lectures end, I'd love to create a WhatsApp community for all first-year Bioengineering students to share resources, exchange advice and help each other throughout the year.

You'll find the link to the WhatsApp group in the Campaign Media section.
