Making Postgraduate Life Better at Imperial
As a PhD student, I know how much time can be lost to unclear processes and fragmented information. I’m standing to make postgraduate life at Imperial simpler, fairer and more connected.
1. Smarter PhD Administration
PhD milestones such as the ESA and LSR should not depend on endless email exchanges. I will advocate for a unified digital system where students, supervisors, advisers and examiners can easily track deadlines, responsibilities and progress.
2. A Better GTA Experience
Finding teaching opportunities, managing contracts, submitting timesheets and tracking payments should be straightforward. I will push for a College-wide GTA portal, alongside greater transparency and consistency in recruitment, pay and working conditions across departments.
3. A Postgraduate Forum
I want to establish a space where students can share experiences, discuss PhD and GTA issues, provide feedback and exchange useful information. This could also connect current researchers with undergraduates and prospective PhD students seeking advice.
4. Connecting Researchers Across Departments
I will promote departmental journal clubs, science communication activities and interdisciplinary discussions for PhD students and early-career researchers. More opportunities to exchange ideas beyond our own disciplines could encourage new perspectives and collaborations.
My Commitment
Meaningful improvements require cooperation between students, the Union and the College. I will listen to postgraduate students, bring practical proposals to Council and work towards making Imperial a better place to research, teach and learn.
