Petra Juncu
I am standing for the Gender Equality Network because I believe the women who have earned their place at Imperial deserve to be celebrated, and that every student deserves the same opportunities in academia, whatever their gender. I want to be part of the movement closing the gap between men and women in academic life, and I would be honoured to represent you in it. Talent knows no gender, opportunity should not either.
I bring practical experience of leading and listening. I have tutored around 40 students, led successful teams in international competitions such as ESA’s Astro Pi, and led a student-run science magazine at school that balanced female and male contributors. Each taught me that good representation begins with understanding the people you serve. I will bring that same commitment here.
If elected, I commit to three things.
Celebrate: I will use the Network’s awareness campaigns, including International Women’s Day, to highlight the achievements of women across all of Imperial’s campuses.
Listen: I will offer an anonymous form, open at all times, where any student can raise barriers they face, and I will be transparent about how every concern is handled.
Advocate: I will take what I hear to Union Council, the Wellbeing Forum and academic representatives, and publish a summary of what was raised, what was decided and what happens next within one week of each Council meeting.
I will listen carefully, act with integrity and keep you informed.
