Hi everyone, I'm Bert!! I was your Year 1 Academic Representative alongside Aqsa, and I'm running again to be your Year 2 Academic Rep.
After spending last year working on issues regarding tutorials or general academics and now organising large-scale events as a DoCSoc Academic Events Coordinator, I know how to push for the support we need.
Year 2 Computing is intense. So my goals as rep for this year reflect that jump in intensity and workload too. Here's what voting for me means for this year:
- Project support & managing deadlines: I will work with staff to resolve any module issues that arise, and I'll keep negotiating for moving deadlines in any unreasonable stretches of work.
- Proven experience: Having done this role last year, I have experience in the role and its demands. There's no learning curve; I know what to do when you want something fixed.
- Speaking up, quickly: I will continue to advocate for our cohort in staff-student committees and through quick emails, leading to real changes.
- Listening to you: I'm always up to chat and am happy to forward your feedback directly on to the department. This can be small fixes, or larger shifts in modules!
- In exam season: I'll make sure that we have all the resources we need ahead of the holiday. This avoids any challenges in contacting module leaders about the courses across the spring break, and ensures your revision period is as streamlined as possible.
Vote Bert for Year 2 Academic Rep!!
