Civil Engineering at Imperial is a very exciting degree although I’m aware that it’s one that’s extremely challenging too. As Year One Academic Representative, I want to ensure that whatever it is people are finding difficult, confusing or even unfair is actually being heard and voiced throughout the Civil and Environmental Engineering department where action is taken.
I’ll try to make it easy for anyone in the year to contact me or simply come up to me in person, not just the ones who are already comfortable in speaking up. If there is an issue you are facing, such as the pace of the lectures, something in tutorials, or the structure of assessments, I’ll reach out to the department and report back to you as soon as I’ve received any updates, ensuring you are never left in the dark.
Our year is pretty international and I’m sure everyone has their own unique experience of settling into Imperial. I myself have lived across India, Singapore, Dubai and now London, so to a certain extent, I know how it feels trying to fit into a place that may be unfamiliar. At the same time I also know the importance of having a strong sense of community that keeps us driven even in treacherous times.
I’d love the chance to represent our year and I’ll do my best to make sure everyone thrives!
