Hongcheng Wu

Hi! I’m Hongcheng Wu, but most people call me Calvin. I’m a first-year Design Engineering student, and I’m running for CGCU Activities Chair.

I’d love to help make CGCU events a fun part of student life — something people can enjoy outside lectures, coursework and deadlines.

In high school, I had the chance to organise quite a few student activities:

• Founded and ran a 20+ member baseball club, with training twice a week
• Organised a five-school baseball tournament for around 150 students
• Managed venues, schedules, referees, equipment, budgeting and safety approval
• Led a recurring Physics Open Day for 50+ students, with experiments, volunteers and quiz activities

Those experiences taught me how much planning sits behind a good event, and how important it is to listen to what people actually enjoy.

If I’m fortunate enough to be elected, here are a few things I’d like to work on:

• Publish a termly events calendar early, so people can actually plan around events
• Use quick student polls to find out what people genuinely want to see
• Work more closely with CGCU societies on joint events, bringing different groups together

I’m sure there is plenty for me to learn at Imperial, and I’d be very happy to learn it while helping make CGCU a little more lively.

Vote Calvin (Hongcheng) for Activities Chair!
