Hi everyone! I’m Harvan, and I’m running to be your Year 5 Academic Rep because I want to make this year’s teaching, assessments, and clinical learning as smooth and supportive as possible, especially as we transition back into full‑time medicine after the interfaced year.

A bit about me: I've been the president of South Asian society, I’ve tutored with In2Med, and I’ll be taking on the role of Year 5 Coordinator for Medical Education next year. I also work at McDonald’s alongside my studies, so I understand what it’s like to balance part‑time work with placements, deadlines, and revision, while still finding time to hit the gym or binge watch to unwind. Academic support isn’t abstract to me; it’s something I’ve actively provided and relied on throughout med school.

What I’ll focus on:

• Consistent teaching quality: Working with module leads and placement sites to ensure teaching is reliable, structured, and actually aligned with what we’re assessed on.
• Assessment clarity: Clear timelines, transparent marking criteria, and early communication about exam formats so no one is left guessing.
• Feedback that matters: Collecting honest, anonymous feedback on teaching and placements, then pushing for real changes rather than letting issues repeat across rotations.
• Support during the transition: Helping everyone adjust back to clinical learning after the interfaced year, with guidance on expectations, competencies, and how to make the most of placements.

This year is a big academic step, let’s make sure we get the teaching, clarity, and support we deserve.
