Salma Hashi
Assalamu Alaykum. My name is Salma and I am running to be the next Vice President of Education at STEM Muslims next year.
My journey with STEMM began in my first year, helping welcome new members into our community. Now, as Secretary of Communications, I write our society newsletter and manage our LinkedIn presence, giving me a strong sense of how we tell our story and engage our members. It has been a privilege to grow with STEMM, and I am ready to take on a greater role in shaping what it becomes.
STEMM exists to empower Muslim students in Science, Tech, Engineering and Maths while staying rooted in our deen. It is a space where growth, ambition and Islamic values come together.
As Vice President of Education, if elected, I hope to:
• Bridge the gap between year groups by creating structured opportunities for first and second years to connect with older students: whether through mentorship pairings, panel talks, or informal networking so no Muslim student at Imperial has to navigate their degree alone.
• Elevate student development through technical workshops, soft skills sessions, and project-based initiatives that build both confidence and capability.
• Grow our reach by collaborating with external organisations to deliver workshops and tutorials to Muslims youths to better their access to higher education opportunities
STEMM has given me so much, and I want to give back by building something that lasts. I promise to lead with sincerity, structure, and a genuine commitment to our values.
