Seeing the impact of the Medical Education division of Muslim Medics through their resources and tutorials, that have undoubtedly helped many of us in our first year examinations, has inspired me to help positively shape the academic experience of future First Year Imperial medical students as part of the Muslim Medics team.
Having had the privilege of serving as Fresher Rep this past year, I have gained valuable insight into planning, organising, and delivering everything that Muslim Medics offers for first-year medical education, especially being under the wing of the amazing previous Year 1 Coordinator, Iqra.
As Year 1 Coordinator, I aim to:
- Recruit high-quality tutors and work closely with them to ensure tutorials are engaging, organised, and consistently delivered to a high standard.
- Ensure resources, tutorial information, and revision support are communicated clearly and efficiently to the Year 1 cohort, hence ensuring maximum efficiency in the students' revision.
- Work closely with the Fresher Reps under my wing as a bridge between the committee and the wider year group, actively taking on feedback to continuously improve the support we provide.
I aim to utilise and apply the skills of time-management, teamwork, and organisation that I have developed over the past year in my role as Fresher Rep into the role of Year 1 coordinator when carrying the beacon from Iqra, and I hope to continue to help First Year Medical students excel in their studies when taking on the role.
