Greetings all! Opera has brought me tremendous joy, and I want more people to see and experience this same delight, which is why I am running for publicity officer.
My first year in Opera was spectacular. I was so excited to tell my coursemates about this amazing society and what it has to offer, but I was approached with the questions, "Light opera? What is that?"
I remember that I have experienced that exact confusion before, when I was scrolling through the list of societies I could join. I googled ICSM Light Opera and stalked the opera Instagram, but I still had no idea what it is about - is it about opera? Is light opera its own genre I hadn't heard of before? Are the people nice?
With the above in mind, I am confident that my ideas can turn the question of "What is Light Opera?" into "Light Opera sounds fun, I want to join and watch their shows!". I would love for Operites to take on trends, for eg. 'Shake my hand in character' or 'Guess who is (character)'. Then, we show them our hard work and talent with more frequent updates, rehearsal vlogs, individual talent showcase, and more.
I have years of experience with designing media and video editing.
The people, talent and fun in this society are beyond imagination.
I want more members of Imperial (and the world) to see our amazing Operites and our society.
