Synthetic Biology: Secretary

Hello everyone! I am Katie, a current year 1 biochemistry student running for the secretary position of SynBIC. Synthetic biology intrigued me with its multidisciplinary nature and versatile applications across different fields, motivating me to participate in the iGEM (International Genetics and Engineering Machinery) competition during high school. This experience equipped me with the basic synthetic biology concepts and useful skills in team management and coordination. It also encourages me to continue being involved in this phenomenal global synthetic biology event. As a member of this year's Imperial iGEM team, I am mainly focusing on the wet lab and promotion & outreach components of the competition. I believe that my abundant experience in the iGEM competition prepares me to support different aspects of SynBIC activity, including academic seminars, synthetic biology workshops, as well as the annual Imperial iGEM team selection.

If I am selected as the SynBIC secretary, I would endeavor to be the bridge within the society to ensure efficient communication between committee members and with members of this society. I would maintain detailed records of meeting minutes and society events to support the smooth organization of SynBIC activities. Together with other committee members, I hope to create an inclusive and welcoming community for all passionate synthetic biologists, allowing more people to explore the unlimited potential of synthetic biology. Thank you for your consideration, and your vote is greatly appreciated!
