Jasmine Liang

Hi everyone!
I'm Jasmine, a second year chemical engineering student, and I am so excited to be running for Events Officer!

Discovering salsa this year has been such an incredible and rewarding experience, from performing with the open level team <3 to social dancing for hours until my feet fall off, and this society has been the heart of it all. It has brought together so many wonderful people and as Events Officer I want to share that joy and sense of community with as many people as possible.

Taking on this role, I hope to create spaces for people to connect and get moving, by organising more sessions for social dancing, including bringing back our classic Halloween and Christmas socials. On top of that, I would love to introduce workshops in different styles of salsa and bachata to challenge and widen our perspective as dancers, because nothing beats the adrenaline (and confusion) coming out of a brand new class! Also I'd love to collaborate with other societies to build a vibrant community where we can share our love of dancing with a new audience of people.

What I love most about this society is the way we connect through movement, how we embody the music and that every dance is unique. So as Events Officer, I hope bring people together by creating environments that encourage exactly that.
