Hi guys! My name is Lucas.

I was one of your technical instructors this year. I'm a second-year JMC student. I've been playing a lot of mahjong for a few years now and I speak Chinese.

Having been on the committee for a year now I am very familiar with the workings of the society. Before starting uni I also ran several student societies at my high school to success.

As president, there are a few areas I want to work on with the society:

- Fixed, long-term room bookings to reduce movement and confusion about location

- Earlier and clearer communication of session timings and locations

- Reduced session cancellations, especially at late notice

- More and better events and collaborations with other societies (more exciting than just paid mahjong sessions with some provided food)

- More beginner-friendly opportunities to introduce people to mahjong, as well as greater support for other regional versions of mahjong

- More internal and external competitions for those interested

To do this, I will work carefully and competantly with the other committee members and construct a holistic plan for the society. I will communicate with other society leaders as well as the union and room services as soon as possible. I would also be interesting in seeing how we can use the existing dormant society funds to improve the quality of sessions beyond the current standard.
