Cricket: Social Secretary

Fellow members, legends, and future Embargos regulars,

I am not here to campaign. Campaigning implies there is competition. There is not.

I am here to formally notify you that the position of Social Secretary has already been filled (I covered for Shivam + lived with Kemar) — it was filled the moment I first stepped into Embargos and thought yes. This is my crease. I am not moving.

I have attended every single week. The bouncers wave me in. Jaegerbombs (thanks Martin x) pour before I speak. Much like a good innings, I know when to accelerate and when to dig in — and at Embargos, we are always accelerating.

As Social Secretary, my manifesto is simple:

Embargos attendance is mandatory. I don't want to hear about your 9am. I have 9ams. I am still there. Grow up.

Joint socials with Women's Hockey and Netball. I have identified the opportunities. The diplomatic groundwork has begun 😉. Consider it a declaration — and not the batting kind.

Recruitment. New members will be vetted for social compatibility. A good cover drive is welcome. Great chat is non-negotiable (Oli Thorpe)

No wet blankets. Unlike our outfield after a British summer, I will not tolerate dampness of any kind.

This club has cricketers. What it needs is a Social Sec who treats a Wednesday night at Embargos with the same intensity as a Sunday run chase.

I'm him.

Vote for the only candidate Embargos considers a permanent fixture.

I'll already be there.
