Yacht: Training Officer

Hi everyone, I’m Max, a third-year PhD student in the Math department, and I’m running to be next year’s Training Officer.

I’ve been an active member of the club for the past three years and have benefited hugely from its training courses and sailing trips. I’d love the opportunity to give something back by helping shape and expand our training program next year.

My top priority would be organizing Day Skipper and Competent Crew courses over both the Christmas and Easter breaks, ensuring we continue to develop capable skippers within the club. Given the level of interest expressed at this year’s theory sessions, I’d also aim to run an RYA Diesel Engine and/or RYA Sea Survival course to broaden the training opportunities available to members.

For those who have already completed Day Skipper, I’d like to establish a regular Yachtmaster theory study group (potentially bringing together both current members and alumni) to support those interested in the Yachtmaster qualification.

Please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions or suggestions regarding next year’s training. I look forward to seeing many of you in Gosport or in CAGB 651 next year.
