Imesh Wijesuriya

Hello, my name is Imesh and I'm a third-year medic! 👋 I would like to apply to be Vice Chair as I believe I possess the enthusiasm and skills required from my lengthy time and experience in IDSoc.

As Fundraising Officer 💸 for IDSoc, I have consistently collaborated with society members to generate ideas 💡 for and successfully execute multiple events including the Malaria Awareness Week and Bake Sale, whilst liaising with multiple charities.

Furthermore, during my time as Secretary 👓 for IDSoc, I have consistently responded, being proactive when it comes to distributing/easing workload and organisation, including helping to set up meetings, ensuring the successful running of the Freshers’ Fair stall as well as liaising with the other members to execute various tasks from setting up voting (and encouraging response) & taking meeting minutes to proactively looking into adding new roles, helping to execute the process, and generating society collaboration ideas helping to shift and evolve the aims of IDSoc (now including Epidemiology)! I have also been promoting and sending out emails to generate excitement around the new ICSM x SfGH Journal Club!

Having a fundamental interest in Infectious Diseases 🦠 motivates me to truly grow the society and impart this enthusiasm to others, having attended previous conferences and already being so involved within the society.

I have been moulding and taking hold of the future for IDSoc in many ways, step-by-step, and I would like to continue doing so as Vice Chair!
