EFDS Soc: Events Officer

Let me be direct. If I am running for events officer, you want to know the events I plan to run (not the fluff of who I am or what I want), so read the ideas and vote for me if these sound up your alley!

  • Speed interviewing. You get a minute with each person to just practice introducing yourself like an interview or networking conversation. The point? You get to know, at the end, which person left the "best impression" and potentially learn from others' methods in a low-stakes environment.
  • Banter with Buddy. We all have senior year buddies, remember? Yeah, I forgot too. But can you imagine the help you could probably give the next batch of first-years with their academic work? Yeah, that is how the seniors feel, and I hope to set up more Buddy meetups as we had in the first week.
  • What can I do with EFDS? Understanding what you could do with the skills you have learned so far... what data could you analyse and how could you show to employers that you are engaging with your course not just passing it. Potentially discuss projects or even pick up actual news articles to show the ability to implement your economic and data skills on dissecting that article
  • Data Challenge. Open challenge to any course given a dataset. Can you draw insightful conclusions? Could you conduct predictive analytics? For reference, Kaggle's data competitions are the exact example of the event this could be
