FemTech: Events Officer

Hi Femtech! I’m Buse, a first-year biologist, and I’m running to be your next Events Officer!

You may have seen me at the WIM Conference, our Annual FemTech Conference, or running the pizza station at our Inter-Uni Networking Event. I’m currently part of the Events subcommittee and absolutely love being involved in organising our society’s events.

Previously, I co-chaired a Biology Festival, worked as Events Officer for a Coding Festival, and spoke on the podcast Feminist Minutes about the gender gap in healthcare. These experiences showed me how much I enjoy creating engaging events that spark conversation.

Within Femtech, I’ve helped design workshops for the WIM Conference, and seeing such positive feedback motivated me to take on a bigger role in shaping future events.

As Events Officer, I’d love to keep creating our inspiring events to bring in bigger opportunities for our members. While we often talk about the gaps in healthcare and technology, I also want to organise events that actively work towards addressing them. Building on one of my workshop ideas, I hope to run more interactive events where participants redesign a health product, service, or clinical experience to remove bias and close existing gaps. This way, we will turn ideas into action and empower members to be part of the solution.

Femtech truly feels like a safe space, where I’m inspired and supported to grow. I’d be so grateful for the chance to help shape our events and give back to this amazing community next year!💜
