Aoife OKane

Heyy, I’m Aoife and I’m excited to be running for Secretary of Ceilidh Society! As someone who works at the Union alongside my studies, I am experienced in communication, organisation and making sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.

I’m from Northern Ireland and love trad music and (trying) to dance!! I’ve been involved with this society for the past two years now and I’m so glad to see so many people interested in Irish and Scottish culture and have enjoyed seeing more familiar (and new) faces at the ceilidhs! Whether you’re Celtic, enjoy Celtic culture, or just like dancing, I hope that you can find community within the Ceilidh society.

I would love to help build better connections and more involvement between the ceilidh and the Irish society next year and hopefully get some joint events in!! I want to help this society thrive next year and ensure the ceilidhs run smoothly and are enjoyable for everyone! I would also love to get in some more pub crawls and music sessions, so people can learn about all aspects of ceilidh culture.

I am so grateful to the current committee for all their work in the Ceilidh society this year and while no one could ever replace our (amazing) current secretary, Alice, it would be an honour to be Ceilidh secretary next year and have your vote!
