Emma Parkinson
I’m Emma — a biochemistry student at Imperial. I am half British and half Chinese, but grew up in Switzerland, so I am very used to operating in international environments. That’s why GRC genuinely excites me; it’s a global network of top universities, and I think we can lean into that identity much more. I'm used to working across cultures, time zones, and perspectives, and when you’re coordinating projects across universities and countries, that communication and cultural awareness really matter.
If elected, I’d love to introduce more cross-university project teams, where students from different top universities collaborate on the same client, and organise a yearly GRC trip/global event, rotating host campuses to bring our network together in person. Externally, I’d push for more industry-specific consulting firms, especially aligned with Imperial’s strengths — e.g., healthcare and life sciences consultancies for biotech students, fintech for data and maths students — alongside maintaining strong general consulting partnerships.
From building investor decks and financial models for my startup to working on commercial teams in pharma, I’m used to structured thinking, stakeholder management, and turning ideas into execution. But beyond that, I genuinely enjoy connecting people and building systems that run smoothly. I want to help us fully use the global advantage of GRC, making our collaborations and partnerships smarter, and our community feel truly international.
