Medical Education: Publicity Officer

I am excited to run for Publicity Officer because I believe the Medical Education Society plays a vital role in supporting students academically. The regular teaching sessions are incredibly valuable, and with a strong and consistent promotional strategy, I believe we can maximise both awareness and attendance.

Through my experience in social media and publicity roles across multiple medical organisations, I have developed a clear understanding of how timing, consistency, and structure can significantly impact engagement. Effective promotion is not only about visibility, but about giving students enough notice to plan and prioritise events.

If elected, one of my key initiatives would be to design and publish a clear, termly timetable of teaching sessions in advance. This would allow students to anticipate sessions, organise their schedules accordingly, and engage more consistently throughout the term.

In addition, I would focus on:

  • Promoting sessions earlier with structured reminders leading up to each event.

  • Creating clear, cohesive visual branding for posts to ensure recognisability.

  • Using interactive stories (e.g. topic polls or question boxes) to build engagement before sessions.

  • Posting brief post-session summaries or highlights to reinforce learning and maintain momentum.

The Medical Education Society already provides excellent teaching. I would love the opportunity to strengthen its visibility and ensure its sessions receive the engagement and attendance they deserve.
