Students for Global Health: Early Years and Outreach Officer

Hi everyone, I’m Anoushka, and I’m running to be your Global Health Early Years and Outreach Officer!

I’m really grateful to already be part of the SfGH subcommittee. Contributing to the organisation of workshops for the conference has shown me how much difference thoughtful, practical initiatives can make for students just starting to explore global health. Being part of that process has motivated me to take a more active role in creating opportunities that genuinely inspire and engage early years students.

My hospital volunteering experience in rural India, gave me first-hand experience of how healthcare works in different settings, the impact of limited resources, and the inequalities that exist between communities. That experience shaped how I think about health equity and why early exposure to global health matters. This is a perspective I want to bring into this role, helping students connect theory to real-world challenges and understand how they can make a difference, even in small ways.

If elected, I would focus on creating opportunities that feel tangible and meaningful. This could be through workshops, mentoring, or clear pathways into research and electives, as well as outreach that builds lasting connections with schools and widening participation initiatives. My goal is to help more students feel confident, supported, and inspired to get involved in global health from the very start of their studies!
