General Practice (ICSM): Early Years Representative

Hello, my name is Nidhesh and I am a third year applying to be your Early Years Representative.

I understand how challenging and the uncertainty you may experience in the early years of medical school. There’s a huge workload, a lot of expectation, and sometimes it’s hard to see how all of it links to real clinical scenarios, especially in General Practice.

My aim is to make GP feel more relevant and visible from the early years of medical school.

If I am elected, I will make sure students are aware of GP events that come up, opportunities and teaching sessions. I’ll actively gather feedback from you and make sure your views are represented at committee meetings. I also want to encourage early exposure to GP through mentorship, talks and practical sessions to help build confidence.

General Practice is centred around communication and holistic care, skills that matter from Year 1. I want to help students realise this early on, not just to make being a GP a career option, but as something that shapes how they practise medicine in the future as any doctor.

I’m organised, reliable and I follow through on what I say. Most importantly, I’ll listen.
