Imperial is full of people doing insane things in labs at 2am. But too often, research stays trapped in departments, unread, unseen, and unconnected.
I’m running for External Research Coordinator because research shouldn’t live in silos; rather,it should travel.
Here’s what I want to build:
1. A Centralised External Opportunities Pipeline
Curated weekly updates on external research internships, summer programmes, grants, conferences, and publishing opportunities, not just forwarded links, but clear summaries with deadlines and eligibility.
2. University-to-University Bridges
Collaborations with research societies at other universities for joint symposiums, paper showcases, and cross-institutional panels. Let’s make Imperial researchers visible beyond South Kensington.
3. External Speaker Series
PhD candidates, industry researchers, policy analysts, startup founders: voices from outside Imperial who can demystify research careers and show the breadth of where academia can lead.
4. Research Spotlight Partnerships
Connecting our members with external journals, student-led publications, and conference platforms to increase submission rates and representation.
5. Structured Support for First-Time Researchers
Clear guides on how to cold-email professors, apply for external funding, or submit to conferences, turning “I want to do research” into “I know how.”
As head Boy, I’ve led structured initiatives before and understand how to build systems that people actually use. External coordination isn’t about sending emails. It’s about building networks.
If elected, I’ll focus on visibility, accessibility, and collaboration.
Let’s make Imperial research louder, broader, and more connected than ever.
