Imesh Wijesuriya
Hello! My name is Imesh and I'm a third-year medical student!
During my time as Innovations Officer 💡, I have seen how powerful new ideas can be within MSF in particular to raise awareness for the organisation and the work they do. I am applying for Vice President: Innovations to move beyond coming up with creative ideas for individual projects (past include Mahjong & Chai with Mahjong Society, pottery with Art Club, etc.) and instead leading and actively helping to run these projects to ensure impact! From the Welcome Fair, to liaising with different societies to collaborate and finding events to sponsor I truly enjoyed my work as Innovations Officer and would like to continue this as Vice President!
Through helping to generate initiatives this year, I learned the practical challenges behind delivering creative projects: securing engagement, coordinating with other teams within the society, and ensuring ideas are feasible within our resources. This experience showed me that the role of innovation is not simply generating ideas, but creating systems that allow them to succeed. As Vice President, my goal would be to establish a clear pathway for members to develop ideas from concept to execution, with structured support from the committee.
I aim to:
🚩Develop at least one flagship initiative that runs annually and becomes a recognisable part of our society’s identity
🤝Expand partnerships with other societies to broaden participation and maximise impact
🌍Ultimately continue promotion of our fundamental cause!
Thank you for your consideration!
