MANIFESTO
Kerem Teker
Year & Course: 2nd Year EIE
Candidate for Head of Portfolio Management
Imperial College Investment Society
Background
Queen’s Tower Capital is one of the most serious and ambitious initiatives within the Investment Society. Running a student investment fund requires discipline in how ideas are researched, debated, and ultimately acted upon.
My background is unusual in the way it fits this role: I have taken on leadership responsibilities and quantitative work in finance and beyond, but I’m not the typical finance-bro who has already done 5 spring weeks and secured a summer internship.
That’s why I want this role to represent exactly the kind of student that is still learning, still exploring, and still figuring things out.
Why I’m Running
Like most students interested in markets, I am still learning. That is precisely why I value environments where ideas can be explored openly and where discussion matters more than appearances.
What I Believe the Role Should Do
The role of Head of Portfolio Management should focus not only on portfolio outcomes, but on maintaining a strong learning process.
In practice, that means encouraging:
• clear and well-reasoned investment theses
• open discussion around assumptions and risks
• a culture where ideas matter more than who presents them
Closing
The real value of student investment funds lies in developing the habits of thinking that good investors eventually rely on.
If elected, my aim would be to help ensure that Queen’s Tower Capital continues to be a place where those habits are developed.
