As a new member this year, I was very nervous about how I would integrate into the team. I'm so glad that I decided to come to those first few training sessions, despite the nerves, as I feel like I've found a community I genuinely feel part of. Something I think is really invaluable about the club, as well as the friendships and playing the sport itself, is the support I got in terms of academic support.
I was quite apprehensive about clinical skills and examinations I would need to learn for OSCEs, and I am so thankful for all the time and effort Maria put into running sessions for us. I never felt embarrassed or awkward asking questions. Having a safe environment to learn and make mistakes, is incredibly valuable and speaks to the welcoming and kind nature of the club itself. I want to make sure that next year the younger years have access to all the academic support they need, both in terms of CPA/OSCEs, resources and any teaching sessions they feel they could benefit from as well.
Having my own CPA tutees, I really enjoy teaching and seeing younger years improve their skills and increasingly gain confidence every week. I would love to be able to continue the amazing job Manuela has done this year and make sure that younger members feel just as supported as I do this year, so that they can have the most enjoyable and as stress-free med school experience as possible.
