Subanu Suthakaran
Hi everyone, I’m Subanu and I am running for Vice President of Events in FoMSF! I have always held a strong passion for humanitarian medicine and would love the opportunity to contribute to this society in the best way I can, using my experience in event management.
Most recently, I served as Conference Chair for ICOGS Conference 2026, which gave me first-hand experience coordinating large-scale events from start to finish. Leading a subcommittee required careful planning, delegation, and constant communication while managing logistics, speakers, and programme development. This experience strengthened my organisational and leadership skills and has prepared me well for the responsibilities of Events VP.
Outside university, as part of my local Tamil diaspora charity, I have organised alumnae and fundraising events, gaining experience in sponsorship outreach, networking, and team management. Alongside this, I was Publicity Officer for ICSM Paediatrics, where I promoted several flagship events and learned how societies best engage their members and reach wider audiences.
If elected, I hope to build on FoMSF’s fantastic work by expanding the scale of our events, whether that be socials, careers panels or interactive simulation-type workshops, and increasing collaborations with other societies and beyond to bring greater visibility to humanitarian medicine and the breadth of opportunities available within MSF.
I would love the chance to contribute to such an inspiring society and organise impactful, innovative events that bring students together in support of an important global cause. Thank you so much - your support would mean the world! 🫶🏽
