If you have been in AlgoSoc or MathsSoc, you probably know us from events, running lectures, sending resources, or helping with interviews. Anyway, here's what we've done and what we want to do.
What have we done?
(Utkarsh): I will be interning at Optiver, have helped bring in 20+ sponsors at AlgoSoc, rebuilt QTC Alpha as Head of Quant, co built EduFund from scratch, supported multiple members with mock interviews, HireVues and referrals, helped members 24x7 and secured a trading offer from Goldman Sachs too.
(Soham): I will be interning at DE Shaw, worked as a QR/QA for a year, completed spring weeks at Jane Street, Optiver, IMC, SIG, Flow, Citadel and DE Shaw, ran Axioms with weekly lecture content, helped bring sponsors into MathsSoc, and supported younger students in landing springs and internships.
(So you know we're good.)
What will we do?
- More representation focused initiatives to help bridge the gender gap in trading
- 25+ sponsors and structured office visits to quant firms - already in talks ;)
- A serious maths bootcamp at the start of term that actually prepares you fully for AlgoCourse
- A restructured QTC with Market Making, Market Taking, Options and EduFund arms, plus formal analyst training and a Markets 101 certification
- Trading competitions with simulations, leaderboards and big prizes
- “How to Land Springs” workshops and a proper mentorship scheme
