Rania Hashim
Hi, I'm Rania, a BTV bioengineering student! Throughout the year, I've been lucky to have gotten the chance to learn and grow from some incredible people in the BioEngSoc.
With a subject as interdisciplinary as bioengineering, there is never a shortage of rabbit holes. I want to facilitate these by hosting regular journal discussion groups/science salons, giving members a chance to explore ideas beyond the curriculum and stay informed on the latest research. Where relevant, I hope to collaborate with other academic societies to encourage further cross-pollination of ideas.
Alongside fostering academic curiosity, I'm committed to helping students to develop technical skills. Even just within first year, I've gotten exposed to Fusion 360, Solidworks, Arduino, Python, among various other technologies. I know firsthand how steep the learning curve can feel. I'd like to smoothen the curve by connecting with experienced students and other relevant individuals to organize workshops that serve as a booster for these skills, especially ahead of HealthHack. Additionally, this would be a useful way to engage the community.
Some of my favorite departmental events have been opportunities to learn from incredible members and researchers from Imperial and beyond. I want to continue bringing in inspiring speakers, across various disciplines, for both technical/research-oriented talks as well as career and industry related events.
Finally, I aim to create a centralized opportunity page for workshops, events and resources, making it easier for everyone to get involved and stay engaged.
Here's to making BioEngSoc cracked as hell!!!
