Manuela Jiggins

Hiya, I’m Manu, a first year MBE student. Having attended several careers fairs and talks with the society I’ve seen how important these academic events are: from revealing the cutting-edge research currently being done to exposing you to internship opportunities.

When acting as house captain and MUN chair at my previous school I gained experience organising events. Now, rather than herding year 9s, I can apply these skills to preparing seminars covering a wide range of topics within the department. In particular, I would like to highlight the process of developing bench research into clinical products through panels with startup founders.

Additionally, I would like to organize a talk breaking down UROP applications with student-staff networking opportunities following; to allow any available projects to be advertised.

I would love to implement any other events that you feel the department is missing. Together we can create an even more academically enriching department, and more importantly: LinkedIn farm.
