Ashmita Panda
Hi, I’m Ashmita Panda, a first-year undergraduate student, and I’m running for Academic and Technical Events Manager!
We've all had that moment—sitting in a lecture thinking, “This field is insane… so how exactly do we apply everything we're learning in real life?”
Bioengineering is biomaterials and regenerative medicine and biotech start-ups and devices that literally keep people alive! It’s creative and chaotic and collaborative. And I don’t think our academic events should feel smaller than the field we chose.
As an events coordinator, I'd want to work with the bioengineering department and tailor academic events around what we have interest in and in the avenues we want to explore. I want to give you all a say in whether we explore cutting-edge medical tech, research pathways, industry insights, or even just how to survive lab reports without losing your sanity.
As a first year, I know what it feels like to be slightly overwhelmed yet eager to understand where this degree can take us. But most importantly, I care about relevance. I want you to leave an event thinking, “That was actually worth my time.” Inspired, curious, and reminded exactly why you chose bioengineering in the first place.
I think that my passion for this field and my detail-oriented, driven and collaborative nature would make me the best fit for this role, and it'd be an oppurtunity I'd realize to the fullest potential.
We’re in one of the most exciting fields out there. Let’s build events that reflect that.
